Well, I have this really creative cooking cousin. And I am addicted to this shake :)

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
  • 1 tbsp agave

Of course I did not have all the ingredients.
So, this is what I did.
No almond milk, protein powder or pepitas.
Used whole milk and added vanilla ;)

This was yummy! I also added vanilla and then a little nutmeg. I think next time, I will freeze the pumpkin in ice trays before I make it!! My kids (well, the 2 smoothie-lovin’ ones) and mother-in-law loved it!

My Kissin’ Kousin probably doesn’t understand my affinity for almond milk. Here’s a REALLY great article that exposes the truth of today’s milk. http://www.notmilk.com/a-z.txt
I realize it seems hypocritical that I use whey protein, but, well, sometimes you have to pick your battles. I feel the need to supplement protein in order to build muscle via boot camp and powdered egg whites are WRETCHED!

Think soy is any better? Think again. http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/soy.htm

For these reasons, I prefer unsweetened almond milk and coconut milk.
